WIND SUITE FOR HANDBELLS - Scott Pfitzinger - 3-6 octaves handbells - Levels II-V

A creative new suite by Scott Pfitzinger, the Wind Suite for Handbells is a handbell suite where each movement is based on a different wind from somewhere in the world, not only creating a musical picture of the wind, but also conveying the images and cultures of the places where each wind lives. Set for 3 to 6 octaves of handbells, the levels range from 2 to 5 and the entire suite can be played in about 15 minutes.

1. Williwaw - A musical representation of the wind that is called Williwaw: A sudden, erratic, violent gust of cold land air that descends from coastal mountaintops down to the sea, accelerated by gravity.

2. Mistral - A musical representation of the wind that is called Mistral: A strong cold dry northerly wind of southern France.

3. Chinook - A musical representation of the wind that is called Chinook: A warm, dry winter wind also called “snow eater” that blows down the east side of the Rocky Mountains, causing sudden extreme increases in temperature.

4. Simoom - A musical representation of the wind that is called Simoom: A relatively brief, hot dry violent dust-laden wind that blows in the deserts of the Arabian Peninsula.

5. Zephyr - A musical representation of the wind that is called Zephyr: A soft, gentle breeze from the west.

6. Chubasco - A musical representation of the wind that is called Chubasco: A violent squall with thunder, lightning, and rain along the Pacific coast of Mexico, Central America, and South America.
