UNTIL THE DAY BREATHES AND THE SHADOWS FLEE (PRAYER FOR THE HOLOCAUST) – Derek Hakes – 5 or 7 octaves handchimes (or handbells) with handbell tree and optional cello – Level III

Subtitled “Prayer for the Holocaust”, this ethereal and emotive original work bears the following dedication: “Written for the city of Carmel, Indiana, Holocaust Remembrance Ceremony – ‘Legacies of Justice’ April 24, 2006.” Originally written for handbell solo with piano, this piece has been expanded for 5 or 7 octave handbell or handchime choir and optional cello.

The optional cello part was written by Timothy Mahr.
