IT IS WELL WITH MY SOUL – Julie Turner – 3-7 octaves handbells with optional 3-5 octaves handchimes – Level III-
A pensive yet anticipatory introduction sets the tone for this richly-textured arrangement of the beloved hymn, It Is Well With My Soul.  Flowing LVs accompany the well-known melody during the first verse and refrain. In contrast, the second verse begins in the relative minor key, representing the opening text, “Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come…”, and then returns to a major tonality to reflect the remaining verse text: “…Christ has regarded my helpless estate and has shed his own blood for my soul.” After a brief, contemplative interlude, the momentum builds to a glorious and uplifting final refrain which reinforces the core message of confidence in God’s consummate grace and love.
